Cycle Tour Options
To design your own holiday you can choose from any of the following tours.
You can hire one of our bikes and take your self for a ride around the scenic Hawkes Bay.
Our bikes are available for ONE day hire from $45 per day and over night or multi day hire can be arranged. You can also choose one or more of our specially designed tours as listed below.
All our tours are pleasant ONE day tours for anyone with a moderate level of fitness. All the tours come with a booklet giving your tour information and easy to follow directions so you don’t need to worry about getting lost! Two of the tours are fully guided, and the others can be guided by arrangement if requested.

Tukituki Valley and Clifton. 54km cycling distance on quiet country roads and the Rotary Pathway. You will cycle through the coastal settlement of Te Awanga to Clifton, with coastal views across Hawkes Bay to Napier, Mahia and to Cape Kidnappers. On the way you can visit Wineries (Clearview, Kim Crawford and Elephant Hill) visit the British Car Museum, Woolshed Experience and Haumoana Farmyard Zoo, then return via the scenic (and hilly) Tukituki Valley, with a coffee at the Te Mata Cheese factory.
To Bay View and back. 45km cycle almost totally along the Rotary Pathway. This is an out and back trip along the Marine Parade and coast. Options of attractions on this day are too numerous to list and include; National Aquarium, Ocean Spa, Bluff Hill lookout, Napier old Prison tour, Possum World, Mini golf, Pania Statue, explore the Napier Shopping center and the Ahuriri precinct (bars, café, marina, restaurants).
Pedal to the Pub. 51km cycling on this rural round trip visiting the Puketapu County Pub along the way. The ride incorporates public roads (some good hills) and the Rotary Pathways. As well as the great rural and sea views you can stop at the Taradale Village shops, a choice of 3 wineries, look at the tree stump carvings by the golf course, and finish the cycle with a coffee at the Silky Oak Chocolate Factory/museum and café.
Bike and hike up the Peak (This is a guided day) 35km cycling. This day includes a guided hike to the top of Te Mata Peak. The hike could take 2/3 hours depending on how many photo stops you take. The views are unsurpassed and on a clear day you can see Mt Ruapehu and almost all of the Hawkes Bay area. After the hike there is a gentle 4km down hill cycle into The Havelock North Village where there are many boutique shops, cafes, bars and restaurants. Explore the village for an hour or so then a pleasant flat ride through the Havelock Orchards back to your accommodation.
Fernhill/Twyford and historic Oak Avenue. 44km on public roads and Rotary Pathways. This is a pleasant flat rural ride with scenic views of vineyards, orchards and the historic Oak Avenue. There are 3 wineries and Roosters Brewery to visit along the way and a good place to stop for refreshments along the way home is at Pernel Fruit World café.
Cycle to Clifton and take the Gannet tour out to Cape Kidnappers.
22km Cycling. This tour depends on tides and bookings are essential. The trip to the Gannets can take about 4 hours and you are taken out by tractor driven transport along the beach. The cycle to the start of the Gannet Tour at Te Awanga is about 11km each way.
Maraetotara Scenic Waterfall.
55km Cycling, all on public roads. Cycle from Clive to Maraetotara Road via the scenic Tukituki Valley and then the Waimarama Beach Road till you turn right into Maraetotora Rd. When you get to the carpark there is a pleasant 1km walk along a bush track to the picnic spot, swimming hole and a spectacular waterfall. The return trip can retrace your ride through the Tukituki Valley or you can cross the bridge and take the slightly flatter route and visit some of the wineries (Craggy Range Restaurant & Winery, Te Mata Wines, Zepelin wines and Black Barn Vineyard).
Crownthorpe rural ride. (This is a guided tour) About 87km on hilly public roads. It is very scenic with some amazing views over Hawkes Bay. This is one for the keen cyclist.
